Mini Corn Dogs

Mini Corn Dogs are a delightful twist on the classic fairground treat, featuring bite-sized sausages enveloped in a golden, crispy cornmeal batter. These miniature wonders are not only fun to eat but also incredibly easy to make, thanks to the magic of the air fryer. 

Ingredients:

For the Mini Corn Dogs:

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 package of mini cocktail sausages (about 36 sausages)
  • Wooden skewers or toothpicks

For Frying:

  • Cooking spray or oil for the air fryer basket

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (188°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal, all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, and vegetable oil.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  5. Insert a wooden skewer or toothpick into each mini sausage, leaving about half of it exposed for handling.
  6. Dip each sausage into the cornmeal batter, making sure it's evenly coated. Let any excess batter drip off.
  7. Lightly grease the EaZy MealZ Air Fryer Basket with cooking spray or oil to prevent sticking.
  8. Place the battered sausages in the preheated air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they don't touch each other. You may need to cook in batches.
  9. Air fry at 370°F (188°C) for 7-9 minutes, or until the mini corn dogs are golden brown and cooked through. Cooking times may vary depending on your air fryer model and the size of the sausages.
  10. Carefully remove the mini corn dogs from the air fryer, let them cool for a minute or two, and serve them with your favorite dipping sauces, such as ketchup, mustard, or honey mustard.
