  • 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper, to taste


  1. Place the peeled and chopped potatoes in a microwave-safe bowl with a lid. Add a small amount of water to the bowl, cover it, and microwave the potatoes for 10-12 minutes, or until they are soft and easily pierced with a fork.
  2. Drain the cooked potatoes and transfer them to a mixing bowl.
  3. Mash the potatoes with a potato masher, adding butter and milk. Mash and mix until the desired consistency is reached. If needed, you can add more milk to make them creamier.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and continue to mix until the seasonings are evenly incorporated.
