Ingredients:
For the Popcorn Tofu:
- 1 block of extra-firm tofu, pressed and cubed
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup plant-based milk (such as almond milk or soy milk)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
For the Dipping Sauce:
- 1/4 cup vegan mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce (adjust for desired spiciness)
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or agave nectar
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions:
- Prepare the Tofu:
- Press the tofu to remove excess moisture. You can do this by wrapping the tofu block in a clean kitchen towel and placing something heavy on top for about 30 minutes.
- Once pressed, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.
- Set Up Your Breading Station:
- In three separate shallow bowls, prepare your breading station. In the first bowl, place the flour. In the second bowl, pour the plant-based milk. In the third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Coat the Tofu:
- Dip each tofu cube into the flour, making sure it's lightly coated.
